Neteller: the good, the bad and the ugly. Especially, the really ugly.
Let’s start off with the bad news, just so we can get it out of our systems early in the article: do you want an account opening bonus/first deposit bonus? Well, you will probably NOT be able to get one if you use Neteller. And we say probably, because the ONLY bookie in our list that will still give you the bonus, is 888 (in case you needed an extra reason to open an account here – seriously, DO IT NOW, you won’t regret it).
After we moved past the initial rage we felt when we realized this very important piece of information, we understood why bookmakers don’t simply give out bonuses when you deposit using Neteller. As in the case of Skrill, this is due to the fact that betting sites cannot verify the identity of players when depositing with electronic wallets such as Neteller or Skrill.
So, technically, people could create multiple e-wallet accounts to claim numerous bonuses from betting sites. Now, now…don’t get any ideas from it! Even though you might manage to sign up and claim the bonus that the good ol’ people of 888 are generous enough to offer us Neteller users, creating multiple accounts and trying to scam an online betting site will result in the permanent termination of your account and you’ll have all your potential wins voided. So, it’s not worth it!
Phew! Now, that’s out in the open, so let’s move to the advantages of using Neteller, because, as it turns out, they outweigh the disadvantages.
- It's convenient: Neteller - and similar e-wallets- serve as digital bank accounts that you can fund from virtually any source: bank account, card, cash vouchers, wires, bitcoin and more. This account can then be used as a proxy to fund secondary accounts such as betting websites. It's perfect if you want to keep track of how much you spend on gambling, and keep all your transactions away from your "normal" bank account/statement.
- Instant deposits: When you deposit using e-wallets such as Neteller, your funds show up immediatelly in your betting account.
- Faster withdrawals: Same thing goes for cashing out your wins. And this is an important one to consider! While bank transfers can take up to 12 days (!!!) and debit cards up to 5 business days, with Netelle, your money will reach your account even in a matter of hours. We got ours in the same day! Bookies sometimes quote up to 3 business days for Neteller withdrawals, but, even so, they're still faster than 90% of banking options you could use!
- Flexibility: Neteller is used in over 200 countries and is based in Britain. The service is safe and secure, and it's so widely accepted you can often spend your money directly from your e-wallet with a huge range of online companies other than betting sites.
- Great if you don't have a bank account: with Neteller you can add funds in your wallet by other means. Either get it from your friends or family (Neteller to Neteller transactions are free and immediate BTW), or use cash vouchers, wires, bitcoin and more!
- No fees from bookies: very few bookies charge fees themselves for deposits and withdrawals via Neteller, although some do. But just because we HATE when bookies do that, we kept them off our list above!
Neteller deposits: too good to be true?
A very important piece of information for us gamblers is how much do we need to pay when we make a deposit. We all hate extra fees, so we look for the most convenient banking options that would not incur any – preferably! We found one with Neteller! The bookies we love and recommend in the list above do NOT charge any fees when you make deposits using Neteller. However, online betting is a fast paced environment, and things can change overnight, so we recommend you check with your preferred bookie before using this e-wallet.
As mentioned above, Neteller deposits are instant. That was our case, at least. Though, to be fair, we’ve heard other bettors had to wait up to 6 hours to see the funds in their accounts. If you’re one of them, let us know and we’ll update the info!
Talking about fees…despite the fact that the majority of bookies do not currently charge them…Neteller does! And boy oh boy, they do! Here’s what Neteller themselves state on their own website: “a certain fee amount is charged when you are uploading funds to your Neteller account. The processing fee for depositing funds is 2.5% for all the options. The fee for sending money is flat 1.45%.” But, if you’re using VISA or MasterCard, your bank will charge you similar fees too. So, at the end of the day, that’s the price we need to pay for the convenience of Neteller. And we accept it wholeheartedly! Why? Well, mostly because of the following paragraph…instant withdrawals!
Withdrawals with Neteller: cue the choir!
We all heard angels sing when we cashed out our wins and they hit our account in the same day! Most bookies quote up to 6h for withdrawals as well, but in this case, we can definitely tell you that the accurate timeframe is more like 1h in the case of sites like Unibet, Bet365 and 888!
Now, keep in mind that you’ll ONLY be able to withdraw your funds on neteller if you’ve also used it to make a deposit. And, more importantly, do not confuse the Neteller withdraw timeframe with the bookies time to process your payment.
For exemple, the first time you’ll want to cash out your wins, you’ll have to go through the mandatory verification process, which applies to any legal bookmaker out there. This means you’ll need to submit a proof of ID, a bank statement (you can cover any info you want, the bookies ONLY want to see that the method of payment belongs to you) and proof of address. How To Bet Using Neteller
Signing up with Neteller is an easy process. Click here to open their website and register for an account. Now, in order to use Neteller to deposit money with your favorite bookie, you need to add funds in your e-wallet first. 
Register a payment method(s) with Neteller and once verified you will be able to load your e-wallet with funds. Ideally, the registered address for Neteller will need to match the registered address you have with a betting site.
